Evergreen Living Townhouses
The Evergreen Living townhouses have been designed on a solid platform of sustainable design principals and are a benchmark example of positive environmental solutions in this type of housing. They exude character in every aspect and are the result of careful design and selection of materials creating and (should be an) idyllic harmony within its suburban setting. The client wished to create a positive contribution to the built environment on family land, providing a design brief which allowed the full extent of ESD strategies to be implemented, including passive solar design, low energy use, embodied energy reduction, high indoor air quality, high water retention through storage and landscape design.
Rural retreat
One of our most significant projects to date, this sprawling rural home captures the essence of rural Australia, whilst providing a level of luxury and amenity that is more akin to grand urban locales. Where this building is of immense proportion, it is balanced entirely by sensitivity to energy control with the ability to be completely autonomous from 'mains' systems in energy usage, water resource and waste treatment. The building design strategy revolves around passive solar design and natural cooling via thermal mass and sits within a landscape which responds to the needs of rural resource restrictions.
Castlecrag project
This project involved the design of three dwellings on adjacent sites in Sydney's north and was conceived to maximize passive solar design opportunities and natural cooling strategies. As part of our "pre-designed" portfolio, these houses provide efficient design for a discerning market.
Castlecrag residence
Inspired by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright in a stringent Walter Burley Griffin conservation zone, this project responds to the need for a low impact form with broad floating roof planes and an abundance of light and connectivity to views. It was awarded best project in BDA design awards 2007.
Heritage project
Part of the highly acclaimed Appian Way in Burwood, this project involved alterations and additions to a heritage listed federation home which included a full interior and exterior refurbishment, plus new additions to form a living room and kitchen. Awarded best heritage work by BDANSW and BDAA in 2004.
Killara outdoor room
Responding to the need for more entertainment space, the indoor / outdoor living room straddles an old swimming pool which now serves as a rain-water reservoir. The outdoor room was designed much the same way as an internal room, yet was provided with an operable roof to let sunshine penetrate the adjacent rooms and to provide maximum airflow and shade as required for summer comfort. All interior items are water resistant and designed to accommodate weather penetration... the project received the BDA best interior, best alteration and best project in 2005.
Killara residence
An austere home of grand proportion, this project developed from alterations and additions to an existing residence and resulted in a completely reconfigured building of some 800m2. Located in one of Sydney's premier streets in Killara the project focused on quality detail throughout the building and was awarded best building over 400m2 in 2002.
Manly house
A modest, sustainable house, this project developed from a very tight budget on a land-locked site in Sydney's northern beaches. The design was developed using Ecotect environmental design software to model thermal performance and solar access requirements. Awarded best Environmental and Energy Efficient building in 2005 it continues to be publicized extensively due to its benchmark position in sustainable design.
Northbridge residence
Using the foundations of an existing house, the project developed a contemporary form which responded to its commanding position in Sydney's north overlooking parts of Middle Harbour. The home provides an abundance of natural light and responds to passive heating and cooling strategies and was awarded "best building" by BDANSW in 2002.
Roseville house
Located in a streetscape dominated by federation buildings, this home on Sydney's north shore provides a sensitive response to its local context and adds Energy Efficiency to its repertoire of design awards. Designed for a family of four, this extensive home focuses on quality solutions for efficiency and aesthetics that is appropriate for a contemporary lifestyle.
Seaforth residence
Located on a long and steep site, this building is designed to maximize views and mitigate the harsh influence of the western sun. Cascading over three levels, we employed a butterfly roof to give a lightweight dimension to this large home and the use of reverse insulated veneer provides an energy efficient solution to the building fabric, to which the building was awarded by BDANSW in 2007.
Bella Vista residence
This project, designed for a builder in Sydney's north-west, is designed to break the mould in providing energy efficient design to the "mega-house" and provide year round comfort whilst minimizing the reliance on mechanical ventilation.
Manly Beach House
This project located in Manly beach represents the quintessential modern beach house, Designed to compliment the existing urban architecture, the simple white palette allows the texture of external materials and shading devices to play with light in a delicate manner.
The design was originally developed form one of Sanctum:Livings "pre-designed homes" and has evolved into a spectacular building which is both playful and succinct in its response to the beachside environment.
