Responding to the client's need for more entertainment space, this outdoor living room straddles an old swimming pool that now serves as a rainwater reservoir. Designed in a similar way to an internal room, this tranquil space features a retractable roof to let sunshine penetrate adjacent rooms and to maximise airflow and shade for summer comfort. All interior elements are water resistant and designed to accommodate weather penetration. This project was recognised by the BDA in 2005 with awards for best interior, best alteration and best project.
